Bando’s History

Bando’s Early Days

Bando was founded in 1906 in Kobe, Japan, and initially focused on the production of cotton power transmission belts. The company quickly gained popularity in Japan and expanded to other parts of the world, including the United States.

During the early days, Bando focused on expanding its product line by introducing new types of belts and improving the manufacturing process. The company also expanded its distribution network to reach more customers.

The Shift to Rubber Products

In the post-World War II era, Bando realized the need for innovation to stay ahead in the industry. The company started experimenting with rubber products and introduced the first rubber V-belts in Japan.

The introduction of V-belts was a game-changer for Bando. The belts offered higher power transmission capacity, better durability, and longer life, making them popular among customers. Bando quickly became a leading manufacturer of V-belts in Japan and started exporting them to other countries.

Global Expansion

Bando’s success in Japan led to its expansion to other parts of the world. In 1969, Bando established its first overseas offices in Chicago and Dusseldorf. In 1979, Bando Chemical Industries (EUROPE) GmbH was established in Germany (present name: Bando Europe GmbH), and Bando American INC. was established in Chicago, U.S.A. (present name: Bando USA, INC.). Today, Bando has 18 manufacturing plants in 17 countries all over the world.

The expansion was not limited to geography, as Bando also diversified its product line to include automotive and industrial products. The company’s focus on quality and innovation led to its products becoming popular in different industries, including automotive, agriculture, and mining.
