SEW Eurodrive Products
SEW-EURODRIVE is a leading global manufacturer of drive technology that provides a wide range of products for various industries. From gear motors to frequency inverters, SEW-EURODRIVE offers innovative solutions that ensure reliable performance, energy efficiency, and flexibility.
About SEW-EURODRIVE
The origins of SEW-EURODRIVE can be traced back to the geared motor design by Albert Obermoser in 1928. Christian Pähr recognized the potential of the design and acquired the rights to it from Obermoser AG. Pähr founded the company "Süddeutsche-Elektromotoren-Werke" in 1931, which later became SEW-EURODRIVE.
In 1965, SEW-EURODRIVE introduced its innovative modular system for gear motors, which allowed for greater customization with shorter delivery times. Before, it was expensive to create gear unit-motor combinations that met the unique needs of different industrial sectors and production processes. To address this issue, a modular system of gear units and motors was developed, allowing for flexible and cost-effective combinations. By using a modular system, production costs can be kept low and centralized, making it ideal for mass production in a limited number of high-output plants.
SEW-EURODRIVE started its international expansion in 1960 by opening its first foreign subsidiary in Alsace, France. In the following years, the company continued to expand by opening assembly plants in Sweden, Italy, and England.
In 1974, SEW-EURODRIVE entered the American market by establishing its first site in Canada, followed by production and assembly plants in the US and Brazil in the following years. The company also expanded to Australia, South Africa, Japan, and Singapore in the 1980s.
SEW-EURODRIVE entered the Russian market in 1993 and continued its expansion in Asia by establishing production and assembly sites in Russia and India in 1994 and 1997, respectively. Overall, SEW-EURODRIVE has a significant global presence, with operations in multiple countries across Europe, America, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
