SEW-EURODRIVE is a leading global manufacturer of drive technology that provides a wide range of products for various industries. From gear motors to frequency inverters, SEW-EURODRIVE offers innovative solutions that ensure reliable performance, energy efficiency, and flexibility.

The origins of SEW-EURODRIVE can be traced back to the geared motor design by Albert Obermoser in 1928. Christian Pähr recognized the potential of the design and acquired the rights to it from Obermoser AG. Pähr founded the company "Süddeutsche-Elektromotoren-Werke" in 1931, which later became SEW-EURODRIVE.

In 1965, SEW-EURODRIVE introduced its innovative modular system for gear motors, which allowed for greater customization with shorter delivery times. Before, it was expensive to create gear unit-motor combinations that met the unique needs of different industrial sectors and production processes. To address this issue, a modular system of gear units and motors was developed, allowing for flexible and cost-effective combinations. By using a modular system, production costs can be kept low and centralized, making it ideal for mass production in a limited number of high-output plants.

SEW-EURODRIVE started its international expansion in 1960 by opening its first foreign subsidiary in Alsace, France. In the following years, the company continued to expand by opening assembly plants in Sweden, Italy, and England.

In 1974, SEW-EURODRIVE entered the American market by establishing its first site in Canada, followed by production and assembly plants in the US and Brazil in the following years. The company also expanded to Australia, South Africa, Japan, and Singapore in the 1980s.

SEW-EURODRIVE entered the Russian market in 1993 and continued its expansion in Asia by establishing production and assembly sites in Russia and India in 1994 and 1997, respectively. Overall, SEW-EURODRIVE has a significant global presence, with operations in multiple countries across Europe, America, Asia, Africa, and Australia.

SEW-EURODRIVE offers a comprehensive range of products, including gear motors, motors, frequency inverters, and decentralized drive systems. With its expertise in drive technology and automation, SEW-EURODRIVE provides solutions for various applications, such as conveyor systems, hoists, cranes, and packaging machines.

Gearmotors are one of the core products of SEW-EURODRIVE. They are used to transmit power and motion between a motor and a driven machine. SEW-EURODRIVE offers a wide range of gear motors, including standard gear motors, variable speed gear motors, servo gear motors, explosion-proof gear motors, and many more. Each type of gear motor has its own advantages and applications.

SEW-EURODRIVE also offers a comprehensive range of motors that are designed for various applications. These include AC motors, linear motors, modular automation systems, and servo motors. SEW-EURODRIVE's motors are known for their high efficiency, reliability, and performance. They are used in various industries, such as automotive, food and beverage, and logistics.

Frequency Inverters

Frequency inverters are electronic devices that control the speed and torque of an AC motor. SEW-EURODRIVE's frequency inverters are designed to improve energy efficiency, reduce operating costs, and enhance performance. They are available in various models, such as standard inverters, decentralized inverters, and many more. SEW-EURODRIVE's frequency inverters are used in various applications, such as pumps, fans, and conveyor systems.

Decentralized Drive Systems

Decentralized drive systems are a new generation of drive technology that offers greater flexibility and efficiency. SEW-EURODRIVE's decentralized drive systems are designed to provide a complete drive package in a compact and modular design. These systems are ideal for applications that require a high degree of flexibility and scalability, such as material handling and logistics. SEW-EURODRIVE offers gear motors with motor starters, gear motors with inverters, energy-saving mechatronic drives, and extra low-voltage drives.
