Ball screws are screw drives that convert a rotating drive motion into a linear motion in regular operation. Due to the favorable friction conditions and the associated high degree of efficiency (>90%), they are, in principle, not self-braking. In reverse operation, a linear drive motion can also be implemented in the rotational direction.
