Asynchronous Servo Motors

Asynchronous Servo Motors

An asynchronous servo motor consists of a rotor that turns at a speed slower than the stator’s rotating magnetic field.  Asynchronous servomotors are particularly suitable when high external mass moments of inertia in relation to the motor shaft have to be controlled in a reliable manner.

Asynchronous servo motors can yield more torque than synchronous servos because of the slip caused by the speed difference between the shaft and magnetic field. Asynchronous servo motors are used in centrifugal fans and compressors, conveyors, coffee machines, and lifts.
