Traction Drives

Traction Drive is a non-gear reduction technology that transmits power by pressing two rollers against each other instead of gears minimizing vibration and noise. The rollers are hardened by quenching and lubricant (traction oil) is used at the roller contact. They transmit the power, therefore there is no direct metal-to-metal contact.

Traction drives provide a potential technological improvement in many applications such as collaborative or mobile service robots, medical equipment, 3D printing or precision measurement, high-quality imaging, high-speed printing, and more.
